SARACENS VICE-PRESIDENTS LUNCH - 18TH SEPTEMBER 2010

After many years as Organiser of this annual event, Bryan Smith has finally decided it is time to retire.  We all hope to see him there but in the meantime our President has asked me to take up the challenge.

This year's lunch is being held at Bramley Road on SATURDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2010. As always the bar will be open from 12 noon and we will sit down to the lunch which includes wine, at about 1.00pm. Unfortunately costs have risen since last year and so we have had to increase the price to £26 but I am sure that you will find this continues to provide excellent value for money.

 After lunch you will be able to watch the Amateur 1st XV take on Old Grammarians in their second league match of the season. 

The Amateur Club continues to do well, running three senior sides plus Colts and of course all the Juniors and Minis as well as the outstandingly  successful Women's Section.

This year's lunch is being held slightly earlier than in previous seasons which we hope will make it easier for more people to attend. Last year over 30 Vice Presidents sat down to lunch and we would like to see even more of you this year. Please do make a special effort to come on 18 September and help get the season off to a good start.

Most of us nowadays have e-mail so I am using it to contact those of you who do have it,  for the first time.  However of course I will be making sure that anyone for whom I do not have an e-mail address will get a letter.  I would appreciate your help in making sure that anyone you know does respond. 

Please contact me and confirm your attendence with your cheque for £26 as soon as possible but no later than Monday 13 September.

SARACENS REUNITED 10s TOURNAMENT A STORMING SUCCESS!

The first Senior Rugby Tournament to be held at Saracens for more than a decade enjoyed great success at Bramley Road, with the club demonstrating to all just what a rich seam of talented young players we have produced over the past 10 years.

'New Sarries' - based on our new Senior rugby team members who did not play Junior Rugby at Saracens - defeated Christo Kasabi's 'Saracens 2002' Age Group to claim the first ever "Saracens Reunited" trophy after a fantastic day of 10s rugby of the highest standard at Bramley Road.

The New Sarries produced the performance of the day with some sparkling support play to blow away the 2002 finalists 33-7, and claim their victory in great style.

Sarries 'Class of 2000' and the 'Class of 2001' both emerged from their respective Pools in second place to claim semi-final places.

The event was voted a major success by all attendees, and now seems and absolute certainty to be added to the annual Saracens calendar. More than 130 player and 200 spectators enjoyed some scintillating 10s rugby from all sides who had entered the competition.
