Jo led the tournament consistently, and finished more than 40 points ahead of the chasing pack, led by eldest son Sam, but also containing husband Paul and son Harry, who collectively posted a hughly impressive family result - 4 finishers in the top 7 sides! Ewil Botes played shrewdly throughout to finish in third place. Jo will be awarded her prize at a forthcoming Colts match, where she may be persuaded to exchange her First Aid role for a new role as team 'statto' and selection guru!
Oct 17, 2011, 9:09 pm The Saracens Colts progressed to the third round of the National Cup with a comfortable 5-26 victory at Barnet Elizabethans. In truth the score did not reflect the superiority of the Sarries side who missed out on a more emphatic victory through some poor handling and indiscipline; indeed the game score was a more accurate reflection of the penalty count than the actual play, with the home side not conceding a penalty in the entire first half! A special mention for a superb effort from the Sarries pack which regularly demolished the opposition in the scrum and were responsible for two tries that started with rolling mauls outside the Barnet Elizabethans twenty two. Even though the official’s patience with Saracens ran out in the last ten minutes with a sin binning for persistent foul play it made little difference to the result as the side continued to dominate the game. Oct 6, 2011, 7:48 pm The Results of the elections held on Tuesday evening as part of the AGM are as follows: RESULT OF THE ELECTION FOR JUNIOR SECTION CHAIRMAN Mr Graeme Davis is duly elected to serve as Junior Section Chairman until the next Annual General Meeting of the Club. RESULT OF THE ELECTION FOR ELECTED COMMITTEE MEMBERS The following are duly elected to serve as elected members of the General Committee until the next Annual General Meeting of the Club: Messrs Mark Chapman, Graeme Davis, Andy Harrower, Tim Hurrell, Mike Newcombe, Colin Veitch, and Eugene Yost I would like to take this opportunity to both congratulate all the successful candidates and to commiserate with all those candidates who were unsuccesful. For those of you who are leaving the Committee I and the other officers thank you for all your past service as Committee members and sincerely hope that you will continue to serve the Club in other capacities. As Peter said on Tuesday the Club relies on individuals to ensure that it continues to be a successful and growing organisation and we cannot lose individuals who are committed to the success of Saracens Amateur RFC.
