A message from Schalk Brits

Hi everyone,

I need your help!

On Sunday, I and 30 members of the squad are tackling a challenge of a different kind when I will be abseiling down one of the tallest buildings in Hertfordshire to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis.

But I have to admit that I am a little nervous. I'm not a great fan of heights and the prospect of plunging over the top of a building is a little frightening.

I'm lucky that I will have the support of all my team mates on the day so I won't be tackling it alone, but I also need your help as we aim to raise enough money for the hospice following the fantastic care they gave Chris Wyles' mother Jessica earlier this year.

As a squad, we want to give something back to the hospice so have pledged to raise enough money to employ three full-time specialist nurses by staging six sponsored events over the course of the season - starting with the abseil on Sunday.

Since I arrived at Saracens, I have been amazed by the warmth, generosity and reception that you have given me and if any of you are able to make a donation to support me as I take a leap off a tall building then I will be very grateful.

The Annual General Meeting of Saracens Amateur RFC is to be held on Tuesday, 4 October at 8pm in the Club House.

Copies of the Chairman's Reort and the Accounts will be posted on the website and circulated via email over the next few days.

The Club house will be open from 6:45 am tomorrow with the England RWC game being shown live on the screens.   The Saracens v  Worcester Warriors match will be shown live on the screens during the afternoon for all who are not attending Vicarage Road.

The Club has now received notice of its allocation of International Tickets for the 6 Nations Internationals to take place at Twickenham in Spring 2012.

As reported in the local paper, the "handsome new concrete stand" at Saracens' Bramley Road ground was declared officially 'Open' by the Mayor on 12th September 1951....

The journalist wrote:

"A memorable day in the chequered 76 year history of Saracens Rugby Football Club saw the opening on Wednesday evening last week of the handsome new concrete stand - their first - at the Bramley Road ground.

With the players of the Middlesex County XV and Saracens formed up in an arc in the front of the stand, the Mayor, Cr. John W. Kimber, officially performed the opening ceremony to the cheers of a large crowd"

What better way to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the stand opening than with an England win over Argentina in Rugby World Cup this Saturday, followed by successes for our Senior sides in the afternoon?!

We must hope that the match played on 12th September 1951 is not a poor omen fo England and Sarries Amateurs.....Saracens lost the match to the Middlesex County XV....

Your weekly fixtures and resuts can be added to this Saracens Club website quickly and easily, allowing your players and parents to view the results online.

All fixtures will be listed on the right-hand side of the home page, plus will be recorded in the 'Fixtures & Results' section of the site. You can link each result to a Match Report, and add a photo or two as well.
