Sign Up Now for 2 Saracens Pros Coach Education November Sessions!
Nov 10, 2012, 2:46 pm

Saracens Amateur Coaches are invited to register for two evenings of expert Coach Education in November:

'Saracens Defensive Principles with Paul Gustard - Coach Education Session - Tuesday 27th November 1900-2100

Please find below details of the latest Saracens Coach Education Session, to be held at the University of Hertfordshire on Tuesday 27th November. To reserve your FREE place, email alexausterberry@saracens.net stating your name, club and coaching age group.

With the season well under way, Saracens have once again displayed why they are recognised as the best defensive side in the country having only conceded seven tries in eight premiership games. With that in mind, Saracens will be delivering a Coach Education session at the University of Hertfordshire, to provide you with an insight into the principles that underlie why the club demonstrates such a successful defensive system.

‘Saracens Defensive Principles’ will provide an insight into the key underlying concepts that the club in stills in its players to ensure an effective defensive system. The session will be lead by Saracens defence and forwards coach Paul Gustard, who will deliver a 30 minute presentation followed by a practical session utilising the Saracens Academy players. After calling time on his 11-year professional career at the end of the 2007/08 season following spells with Leicester Tigers, London Irish and Saracens, Gustard made his move into coaching and has been successful ever since establishing arguably one of the best defensive systems for any club side in the World.

The practical session will allow for you as a coach to observe a number of drills, games and ideas that are implemented at both an academy and senior level at Saracens. The session aims to facilitate your coach development and supply you with ideas to take back to your club and implement with your own players to improve the way you defend.

Followed the very next night by the Saracens International Coaching Evening at Bramley Road, 1800-2015, Wednesday 28th November:

SARFC will be hosting the Saracens International Players Coaching Event at Bramley Road on Weds 28th November 1800-2015. Designed for players aged 7-17, the evening session features some of Saracens' international players delivering skill-specific clinics.

Jonathon Baker from the Saracens Community Team has kindly extended an invitation to Saracens Amateur Coaches to attend the sessions, and use the opportunity to watch our world-class professional players delivering coaching and insight to the players attending on 28th.

RFU Coaching Development Courses at Bramley Road 2012-13
Oct 23, 2012, 7:26 pm

The RFU has been reorganising its delivery of Coach and Referee Development in the Middlesex/London North region in recent months, and has just this week invited member Clubs to submit requests for coaching courses to be planned and hosted.

Following the success of the 'Scrum Factory' CPD course held over the summer, I have requested 3 further courses to be timetabled at Bramley Road between November and March 2013 - 'The Kicking Game', 'Defending Phase Attacks' and 'Back Attack from Set Piece'.

As soon as these dates are confirmed, I will circulate application forms for coaches to apply to attend.

These courses will all qualify as RFU CPD, and will be added to your Coaching License records.

If there are other courses you would like to see offered at Saracens, please let me have details via email
