Both the 1st XV (Friendly v Stevenage 2nds) and the 2nd XV (Merit Table v Welwyn 5ths) are at home this weekend.
A win for the 2nds will cement their place at the top of the Herts/Middlesex Merit Table. The 1st XV are looking to continue the winning ways of the last 2 weekends
Team selection will be posted on the website on Thursday morning for both squads.
After the games, the squads will be watching England v Scotland on the big screen, and giving support not only to 'Johnny' who plays his first game in an England shirt since the World Cup final in 2003, but also to Saracens' Andy Farrell, making his debut for England!

After the demolition of Datchworth two weeks previous, we had the decidedly more difficult task of Hendon 2's away. 0-0 at half time after some brilliant defence in our own 22, ensured that we had the confidence to up the ante in the second half and begin to get points on the board. Once again, the youngsters in Peter Sleath, the Labinski brothers, Sean Hughes (Junior), Tom Weir and Anders had massive games; Marchand (our latest South African recruit) was a man possessed and James Radcliffe led from the front as usual. The two outstanding performers who changed our fortunes in the scrum were Muzzy and Kevin Lawrence, our two prop forwards and joint men of the match. Another win this week would see us maintain our lead at the top of our league, with only 1 game to go - big game this Saturday, home to Welwyn 5th's.

Man of the Match Matt James inspired a great defensive effort from all 18 squad members, with Kris Kirkton contributing some huge hits to stop Hendon in their tracks
Stewart Belcher struck twice following enterprising backs play from Saracens, and Alex O'Driscoll and Tom Gillings both went over after pressure plays in the Hendon 22m.
The win ensures that the League will almost certainly be decided

Jan 20, 2007, 9:41 pm The Saracens 1st XV comprehensively defeated UCS Old Boys at Bramley Road today, putting the disappointing performance from last weekend behind them.
UCS, currently in 2nd place in the London NW4 League (2 Leagues above Saracens) could not live with the pace and continuity of Saracens play, which saw 5 tries scored in the second half.
This was an outstanding performance from the 1st XV, and a true squad effort, with a number of players playing in unfamiliar positions....Matt James and James Veitch, in particular, produced outstanding performances at 6 & 7 respectively, scoring 3 tries between them.
The backs rediscovered their flair and pace, and the switch of Adam Smith and Chris Hurrell at 10 and 15 seemed to spark both to great performances.
Tom Gillings was named Man of the Man, Haighy awarded Dick of the Day for two dropped passes and a season of 'No Shows', and the Golden Balls award for defense went to Stewart Belcher.
The squad are eagerly awaiting the 'Slowest Pint Drink Off' between Belcher and Veitch, date & venue to be advised.... |
